Joanne Iritani, MN, RN

As regional chief nurse executive for the Maui Region, Hawaii Health Systems Corporation, Iritani is responsible for system-wide nursing practice at three facilities: Maui Memorial Medical Center, Kula Hospital, and Lanai Community Hospital. As an Executive Nurse Fellow, Iritani was mentored by Michelle Obama, who helped guide her leadership development.

Since her fellowship concluded in 2008, Iritani has spearheaded an effort at the Maui Memorial Medical Center to create, test and implement changes designed to improve medical-surgical patient care and enhance employee satisfaction. The program, called Transforming Care at the Bedside, is a joint initiative of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the American Organization of Nurse Executives.
