There are nearly 1,000 current scholars, fellows, and community leaders in the programs funded by the RWJF Human Capital Portfolio, representing a powerful network of thought leaders. On April 26, 2011 the RWJF Human Capital team launched an online community aimed at helping these groups connect with each other more easily and effectively.

Presenters:
Larry Blumenthal, Human Capital Grantee Network Community Manager
Larry spent nine years overseeing Web and social media strategy for the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, before going out on his own to work with a broad range of organizations through his firm, Open Road Advisors. Prior to joining RWJF, he played a leading role in developing various health-related Web sites, including DiscoveryHealth.com for the Discovery Channel and InteliHealth.com for Aetna U.S. Healthcare. He has also worked as a newspaper reporter, a business editor at Dow Jones & Co., founding associate editor of the NonProfit Times and editor of Publishing Economics magazine. He holds a master’s degree in journalism from Northwestern University and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Chicago, and is a frequent speaker and blogger on social media and philanthropy.
Brian Pagels, Forum One Communications
Brian is a project director at Forum One Communications. As a key member of the Forum One team for over five years, Brian has managed technology projects for influential nonprofit organizations and government agencies, leading teams in online community strategy, and the creation and customization of new web sites and internet applications. He has provided online community and social media expertise to AARP, Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, and many others. He recently hosted a panel at the 2011 Nonprofit Technology Conference on the intersection of "hyperlocal" and nonprofits. Brian holds bachelor's degrees in political science and journalism from the University of Richmond, and a master's degree in communication, culture & technology from Georgetown University.
