Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Center for Health Policy at Meharry Medical College

Supporting the historic mission of Meharry Medical College to improve the health and health care of minority and underserved communities, the RWJF Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Center for Health Policy at Meharry Medical College offers a fellowship leading to a doctorate degree. The College:

• Creates leadership at both Meharry Medical College and Vanderbilt University by educating and training those who are committed to health policy education, research and reform specific to improving the health and health care of minority and underserved communities.
• Conducts research to study and provide information on health disparities that impact minority and underserved communities, and to examine related health policies that may alleviate or be responsible for these disparities.
• Develops policy expertise in the area of health disparities, particularly those relevant to health care planning, health care resource allocation, health maintenance, health promotion, health programs, interventions and strategies specific to minority and underserved communities.

The Certificate of Health Policy program at Meharry Medical College offers students within various disciplines the opportunity to expand their knowledge of health policy as it relates to health care planning, health care resource allocation, health maintenance, health promotion, health programs and interventions, and strategies specific to minority and underserved communities. Students will learn from faculty of multiple specialties from both Meharry Medical College and Vanderbilt University. The program’s curriculum spans one and a half years of training and includes a supplemental paid externship experience at a national organization.
